Watching Her Grow
I love love love this cardi, it took three times the wool it was supposed to and in the process we learned that aran wool doesn’t go very far, but it is worth every ball. This warm cardi is more like a coat right now, so there is plenty of growing room for a growing girl. I think Lara loves it too, its perfect for wearing while inspecting the gaps in the floorboards!
One Small Change
I have been meaning to take a picture of our fruit and veg box each week, but when it arrives it has been rummaged through and packed away while we find what surprises are in store for the week ahead, but this week we remebered. We have a glut of apples that we now need to work through and we have had to get imaginative with items that we wouldn’t normally choose to eat……..turnip yuk, but all in all we are happy we made the change.
Watching Her Grow
Being 10 months old means life if full of wonder, it is the little things, the delight at choosing and then examining a whole apple for the first time.
In The Garden
On the eve of February there have been the first signs that spring may be springing, the snow has almost gone, the snowdrops are appearing and the first use of the washing line saw nappies fluttering in the sunshine.
Watching Her Grow
Every time she goes down for a sleep she is placed on her back in the middle of her cot and until recently she never moved much. But lately she has been a wandering and when we go to check on her she has managed to get herself into all kinds of positions, we had to photograph a few over the weekend.
She started out the other way round, immediately after this picture she woke up and caught us giggling.
This is a favourite position, how she doesn’t get pins and needles I just don’t know Home Sweet Home
We have had all sorts of wildlife here looking for food, it has been tough for all the wildlife having to forage through thick snow for food. We have been feeding all the birds in the neighbourhood especially the bevy of pheasants. In the woods over the burn we have had four or five deer frolicking, but today we had these visitors. They came had a munch at the grass at the edge of the road and they had a nosy up the street and then they trotted back down again towards their field.
One Small Change
With the last of the supermarket supplies depleted we had to launch out on our buying local campaign. I had a look online at some local farm shops and one appealed. We came home with bags of goodies and for lunch we feasted on hearty homemade soup and have a whole week of fabulous local meats (Beef, Lamb, Venison and Ham) reared and butchered in traditional ways also local milled flour, whole milk with the cream, and farm eggs. Next on the list is the fruit and veg box which we have narrowed down to two companies.
The weekly shop just became a whole lot more interesting and we would much rather visit here and park here, even with the snow, than visit the supermarket. So out with the supermarket and in with the weekly farm shop (oh and they can deliver too)
Out and About
Today we visited little Cameron a very new only 1 week old little friend. He is a handsome boy, tiny with lots of dark brown hair. We are looking forward to watching him grow and hope that he and Lara will be friends. We really didn’t expect to get an invite so soon, so the knitted bootees (Saartje’s Bootees) were half done, one was given today and the other is just finished, my excuse for a return visit and a second cuddle.
